We'd rather you understood the billing before you started than found out afterward. Here's all of it, in plain English.
The free trial
Your first 14 days are free. You get the full interview, your written pages, and the editor. Nothing is held back during the trial.
We ask for a card up front. The interview costs us real money to run each time, so the card keeps it serious. You are not charged anything during the 14 days.
When you're charged
On day 15, we charge the plan you picked, plus any add-ons you kept, at the price shown on your review screen before you started.
We'll email you before that happens: a reminder on day 11 with your plan, your total, and a one-click cancel link. No surprises.
After that, you're billed monthly on the same date, or yearly if you chose yearly.
How to cancel
Log in, go to Billing, and click Cancel. That's it: no phone call, no form, no one trying to talk you out of it.
- Cancel during the trial and you're never charged.
- Cancel later and your site stays up until the end of the period you've already paid for.
Refunds
If you cancel after a renewal, we don't prorate the period you're in. Your site simply runs until that period ends.
If you were charged by mistake, or something on our end went wrong, email us and we'll make it right. We'd rather refund you than argue with you.
Add-ons
Add-ons can be switched on or off any time. They bill on the same schedule as your plan, monthly or yearly. Changes take effect immediately and prorate against your next bill. Turning an add-on off doesn't cancel your plan.
Setup fees
There are none.
Your content and your domain
Your content is yours. If you leave, you can export it, and you can transfer your domain to another registrar. We won't hold either hostage.
Your billing statement
Charges appear as SIMPLEUPDATES on your card statement.
